BlackBerry 8820 Review
BlackBerry 8820 is the first BlackBerry to offer integrated Wi-Fi.
The BlackBerry 8820 smartphone is packed with powerful features*, including phone, email, built-in GPS, Wi-Fi support, maps, browser, instant messaging, organizer, media player and more – all in one stylish smartphone.

BlackBerry 8820 Review at cnetThe addition of Wi-Fi makes the RIM BlackBerry 8820 an even more powerful communication device for business users, taking it beyond just e-mail and phone calls. The smart phone continues to offer Bluetooth, GPS, and push e-mail capabilities as well as push-to-talk and multimedia functions. We were also impressed by the long talk-time battery life.
BlackBerry 8820 Reviews at laptopmagWith the exception of a Wi-Fi logo in the top-right corner of the 2.4-inch display, the BlackBerry 8820 looks and feels pretty much identical to its predecessor. And that’s mostly a good thing. Sure, it’s heavier and larger than the 3.9-ounce Curve, but the black-and-silver 8820 retains the relatively light (4.7 ounces) and slim profile (0.6 inches) of the 8800. You also get the same tightly packed but speedy keyboard and slick trackball for navigating menus.
BlackBerry 8820 Reviews at pcmagThe problem is, RIM has optimized its system for low-bandwidth networks so effectively that the 8820’s Wi-Fi seems, well, superfluous. The BlackBerry system has always delivered e-mail promptly. In addition, the stripped-down BlackBerry Web browser discards design frills for direct text and simple images, and it delivers pages in an accelerated manner through the special BlackBerry proxy server. The result is that complex pages load almost as fast over EDGE as they do over Wi-Fi.
