BlackBerry 8800 is now available on T-Mobile as well as Cingular. Verizon’s version is the BlackBerry 8830. The new BlackBerry 8800 has an updated modern design with shiny and chrome surface and most of all a much slimmer body. If you have used or seen a BlackBerry Pearl, you might describe the BlackBerry 8800 as a “double-wide Pearl”: they share the same overall look, casing texture and control keys such as the same trackball style d-pad. Besides the new look, the BlackBerry 8800 adds new bells and whistles including a built-n GPS with TeleNav support, a microSD card slot and a longer running battery while keeping the push email with attachments, Bluetooth, push-to-talk and PIM functions intact.

The quadband smart phone also has Bluetooth, push e-mail, a full QWERTY keyboard, and long talk-time battery life. The bad: Unfortunately, the BlackBerry 8800 doesn't work on Cingular's 3G network nor does it have integrated Wi-Fi. Call quality was a little muffled, and the phone is quite wide and awkward to hold. The media player could also use some refinements, and instant messaging is limited to the BlackBerry Messenger client.
www.geek.com/Just to briefly cover the exterior of the 8800- the device is thin, stylish, and very sleek. It uses smooth, glossy materials and a bright color screen to get your attention. The chromed highlights and sides give the device a little flash, which is nice considering how much of a status symbol the BlackBerry has become, and the smooth outside makes sure it slides easily into any pocket. The 8800 is big enough that it can be typed on with both thumbs, but small enough to be used with just one hand when necessary, something not all QWERTY phones have been able to pull off. It is not especially light considering the size, but given the feature set, this is a something most users will be happy to accept.
